Walking up to Princess Auto Stadium with hundreds of other ticket holding Bomber fans is a feeling like few other. Win or lose, it’s going to be a good day. The sentiment holds true because it’s the pre-season and what’s on the scoreboard doesn’t matter. The game won’t even be televised but myself and 27 thousand others are here to watch it go down in real time.

In the last 3 minutes of the game the Finns pulled their goalie on a powerplay. Canada was swarmed in their own end but George made magic happen and earned the shutout. An empty net goal made it 4-0 for team Canada and the home crowd erupted. On the day George made 31 saves.

The United States and Germany started the Group A action on the opening day of the WJC. The Germans put up a good scrap, at one point coming within a goal in the second when they trailed 2-3 on the powerplay. The Americans responded quickly and romped the Germans 10-4.

Czechia held strong against team Switzerland in a commanding 5-1 victory on day one of the World Junior Championship tournament. By game end the Czechs outshot Switzerland 35 to 26 while each team ended the day with 10 penalty minutes each.

Sweden and Slovakia played the first game of the tournament with the Swedes taking a 5-2 victory. Slovakia took an early 1-0 lead into the second period but the Swedes never looked back after notching 2 goals in the period and a 3 goal third period.

An introduction for what is sure to be an exciting World Junior Hockey tournament. Hosted in Ottawa, the United States is looking to defend their gold medal from last year. The US program has never won consecutive gold medals and the hosting Canadians hope to do their country proud in the capital city.

Two riders from the same team led stage one of the Tour for longer than anyone expected. A final sprint at them at the finish line wasn’t nearly enough to catch the team mates who finished first and second.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers fall to 0-2 for the first time since 2016. After an hour long delay due to lightning the Bombers nearly made the comeback but came up 7 yards short.
